When the club was founded in 1967 as Manchester Vintage car Club (MVCC) it was originally to serve the interests of owners & enthusiasts of Pre-1940 motor cars.

 

In 1996 the Articles of Association were amended to include cars up to 1950, since 2000 to include all vehicles built 30 years or more ago. In 2024 this was reduced to 25 years or more.

 

The MHVC became a limited company in 2004 as;

Manchester Historic Vehicle Club Ltd.

 

The Club is a member of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs
